— Williams Electric Supply · Est. 1962 —

A family-owned supply house in the wire room since 1962.

Four counters across the Tri-Cities. Ten thousand square feet of working lighting. One phone that's answered by a real person on every call.

Inside the original Williams counter, Northeast Tennessee

01  The origin

A single counter in a small town.

In 1962, Williams Electric Supply opened as a one-counter shop in Northeast Tennessee. The founder had spent fifteen years as a working electrician — he knew exactly what contractors needed, when they needed it, and how badly the local supply situation was failing them.

The shop wasn't built to chase volume. It was built to be the supply house contractors deserved — staffed by people who'd done the work, stocked with what the trades actually pulled, and run with the kind of personal accountability that the chain stores were already losing.

Fifty-three years later, that hasn't changed. Family-owned. Family-run. Still answering the phone.

02  What we believe

Four things we refuse to compromise on.

Every supply house claims to care about customers. The proof is in the daily decisions — and these four are the ones we've never changed.

Answer the phone.

A real person picks up. No menus, no callback queue, no chatbot. The phone you call is the phone the counter rep is sitting next to.

Know the spec.

We don't sell what we don't understand. Every counter rep has decades of supply-house experience. Every design consultant has been trained on the actual brands.

Stock what they pull.

Not what looks good in a catalog. The wire, switchgear, conduit, fixtures, and tools that working contractors actually pull on a Tuesday morning.

Stay family-owned.

Fifty-three years. Three generations. No private equity. No franchise rollup. The Williams name on the building is still the Williams family running it.

We believe contractors deserve a supplier who answers the phone, stocks the wire they actually pull, and staffs the counter with people who've wired the same job you're working. For fifty-three years, that's the only way we've known how to do this.
